Position Summary:

  • This is a full-time exempt position. This position is responsible for the general maintenance of BioFire Defense’s R&D laboratories. In general, the Lab Manager is responsible for ensuring the R&D laboratories are operational and will keep an efficient work environment. While there is a variety of key job duties associated with this position, it is likely that other tasks will also be required. The Lab Manager will work with the Directors and senior laboratory personnel (managers) to ensure that the R&D laboratories are operational and efficient. The Lab Manager should be familiar with a variety of the Field’s concepts, practices and procedures including PCR, RT-PCR, real-time PCR, and use of Fluorescence-based nucleic acid detection techniques. May lead and direct work of others. A wide degree of independence, creativity and latitude is expected with this position. May provide guidance to other lower-level personnel. Reports to the VP of Biochemistry.

 

Training and Education:

  • Requires a bachelor’s degree in scientific discipline of equivalent and demonstrated working knowledge of scientific principles.
  • Must have good written and oral communication skills.

 

 Experience:

  • Must be able to safely lift and maneuver up to 40 pounds.
  • 2 to 5 years of experience in a scientific field.
  • 1 to 2 years of Management experience is a plus.
