Government Programs

BioFire Defense is proud to be working with the US DoD and other national agencies by supplying identification systems and test kits for the rapid identification and diagnostic confirmation of biological warfare agents and other pathogens of operational concern for the U.S. Military: U.S. Army, U.S. Navy, U.S. Air Force, and U.S. Marine Corps, US Department of State and US Embassies throughout the world.

BioFire was awarded the JBAIDS (Joint Biological Agent Identification and Diagnostic System) contract and the NGDS (Next Generation Diagnostic System) contract by the US DoD and continues to play a critical roll in readiness for the future of biological detection.

NGDS System

The NGDS System is based upon our commercial off‑the-shelf FilmArray 2.0 system which provides a simple, portable PCR system to aid in the diagnosis of biowarfare agent related illnesses as well as in environmental samples. This contact also included the development of the Warrior Panel for biowarfare agent identification in clinical samples (e.g., blood, blood culture, and sputum) and the Sentinel Panel for biowarfare agent identification in environmental samples (e.g., air, soil, and water).

The NGDS program outfitted the US Military and other government agencies with the standard in biological warfare detection systems. This program has allowed BioFire Defense to expand their military and commercial products and services as well as allowed them to build strong relationships throughout the defense community.
